About Me
Hi! I’m Maya Hirota, a Japanese-American writer and animator based in Los Angeles, CA and Fukuoka, Japan.
In 2019, I earned my BFA in Film and Television Production from New York University, with minors in Studio Art and Child and Adolescent Mental Studies. During my time at NYU, I honed my skills in screenwriting, animation, and the greater art of storytelling.
Since then, I’ve spent the last five years in the commercial animation world, creating animated spots for companies like Shopify, as well as internal explainers and educational videos for children. While writing and animation might seem like different worlds, both let me do what I love most: bring stories to life.
Along with telling stories, I love dancing, trying new foods, DnD/ Tabletop RPGs, and spending quality time with friends and family.
